First Pres prides itself on activity in our community. Members regularly attend rallies and marches such as the March For Our Lives, and we are a sponsor of the Decatur Pride Festival.
Knitters, quilters, and those who enjoy crocheting shawls, lap robes, baby blankets, scarves, and hats gather at 10:00AM on the second and fourth Mondays of each month to create items and have conversations. These items are then blessed by the congregation and given to those in need.
JUST FLICKS – A series of films focused on justice and peace followed by discussion is presented once a month during the school year. This event draws members of multiple churches together for a fun and educational time.
Additionally, we have many mission opportunities serving food at the local Good Samaritan Inn for economically disadvantaged citizens at 920 North Union Street, as well as other local community organizations. This group volunteers from 9-11AM or 11-1PM on the first Thursday of each month.
